Celebrating Deep BlueSeptember 10th, 2012

It can be argued that DJ Clever is Deep Blue’s biggest fan. When Sean agreed to do a 12″ for Offshore Recordings back in 2002, Brett was over the moon. The two have kept tabs on each other since and subsequent Deep Blue tracks have appeared on Offshore. With the relaunch Offshore Recordings, Brett immediately went to Sean for music. Luckily, Deep Blue came out of retirement to remix Orange Line by Daat. To celebrate the remix and the imminent release of another piece of vinyl bearing the Deep Blue mark, DJ Clever put together this tribute mix. The current version is re-recorded since the original version in May. The tracklist has been slightly altered.

Listen to the mix.

Holiday Drum & Bass Mix 2011December 14th, 2011

I’ve finally gotten around to recording a new Drum & Bass mix. It’s mainly the tunes I played a few weeks back at Alteration, so if you missed that relive it here and now. I mixed it in one take with both vinyl and CD (no mystery which tracks are from which source), so please pardon any slips.

Rainy Sunday MixMay 16th, 2011

I spent most of Sunday indoors due to the rain, giving me a chance to record a new Drum & Bass mix. I’ve spent lots of time recently weeding through my record collection to sell those I grabbed in haste over the years (or have doubles of). However, once I’m done with a chunk of sorting, there’s no time left to mix any records.

Today – problem solved.

Seba – Hidden Reflections – Secret Operations
Instra:mental & D-Bridge – Detuned – Darkestral
Doc Scott – Jungle Jungle – 31 Records

Retail AwarenessApril 25th, 2011

Very often, it’s easy to assume everyone around you is privy to all your news sources. The barrage of information available on the internets, social media and twitterverses must certainly be common knowledge to all, right? Well, sometimes that’s not the case.

So, I’ll back up and publicly state that I’m now a part of Gage + DeSoto. A concoction of design, marketing, events and media all anchored to an enthusiasm and passion for cycling. The webstore even contains a few items that I’m directly related to.

The last remaining stock of the Offshore Ripper T-Shirt is available along with a very limited version of a book titled, Kissing With Helmets. Perhaps stating the obvious (but not doing so would defeat the introduction to this post), my wife and I cycled across the United States last summer on our honeymoon. Our journey began in Portland, OR and took us to our front door in Brooklyn, NY. We chronicled our adventure along the way on kissingwithhelmets.com. Edie and I did such a great job doing so, that we turned it into a coffee table book.

The limited version is a hardcover imagewrap, #9 of 10 and features premium paper. The cover has since changed and can be purchased as a softcover, hardcover with dust jacket or hardcover with imagewrap on Blurb.com.

So, if you decide to click on just one of the various links in the post, I’ve successfully brought someone a step closer to my world.

NYC Gig – Sunday, April 3rdApril 1st, 2011

Some may consider this announcement late, or others may consider it just the right amount of time. Regardless, I’ll be DJing at Alteration this Sunday, April 3rd from 11pm to 12:30am street level at The Delancey. Expect currents, classics and Offshore and various other dubs I’ve been sent over the past few weeks.

I even put together an all vinyl 30 min teaser mix on Mixcloud to get everyone hyped for it!

From the Mix ArchivesMarch 14th, 2011

I re-discovered this mix a few days ago. Though it’s from spring of 2003, it still sounds as fresh as the day I mixed it. And, the tracks combined with MC Proof’s vocals make this a musical experience and not just a mix. So, I’ve decided to re-share it years later. Enjoy and spread it around!
