Raras KaupasMay 16th, 2012

We couldn’t be happier to present a Dust Bunny direct from skateboard legend Natas Kaupas. I once asked him about his rarest graphic ever. He responded, “That’s easy, it’s on my wall at home. Only a handful of artist proofs were made.”

So, if you ever wondered about the rarest Natas skateboard graphic, now you know. Thanks for taking this photo and sending it over, Mr. Kaupas.

Celebrating Deep BlueMay 10th, 2012

It can be argued that DJ Clever is Deep Blue’s biggest fan. When Sean agreed to do a 12″ for Offshore Recordings back in 2002, Brett was over the moon. The two have kept tabs on each other since and subsequent Deep Blue tracks have appeared on Offshore. With the relaunch Offshore Recordings, Brett immediately went to Sean for music. Luckily, Deep Blue came out of retirement to remix Orange Line by Daat. To celebrate the remix and the imminent release of another piece of vinyl bearing the Deep Blue mark, DJ Clever put together this tribute mix. We hope you enjoy it and please pardon the slight distortion at times from a finicky needle.

Basement BMX FabricationMay 2nd, 2012

So, it turns out that a friend since childhood is now a Flatland BMX frame builder. In his basement, that is. But, don’t let that deter you. David Farrell seems to be getting the hang of things in his D.I.Y. frame shop and has the goods to prove it. Check out these two frames that he built.

So, if anyone is in the market for a custom Flatland BMX frame, David is your man. Stay tuned for more news and developments from this Maine based outfit that certainly has our attention.

Summertime 84April 3rd, 2012

Taken directly from Gage + DeSoto (because I wrote it):

This year, we had an elaborate April Fool’s story prepared about finding a barn in France full of NOS jerseys from a defunct cycling team. It was meant for our blog and we even mocked up a design to go with the post. It was going to remain just that – a prank, until we thought it would be even more fun to make a few samples of the jersey.

We immediately realized we needed to make this. It’s nothing less than ode to summertime in the 80′s, and to our childhoods. We think the design speaks for itself (and we’re worried that including the text of the “sponsors” would somehow find a way to our desk).

So, we’ll be taking pre-orders for the jersey for the next few weeks. The jersey is produced by Sommerville Sports at a factory that might be responsible for a jersey you already own. This particular model uses a recycled Eco Green fabric, so you can feel good about reducing your carbon footprint.

Extremely limited to pre-orders only, so don’t wait around on this one!

A Week AgoMarch 31st, 2012

It’s hard to believe that a week has passed since I ran the Red Hook Crit 5K. The 5am wake up call for a cycling race in Central Park followed by the 70 miles of riding probably didn’t help my cause, but such is life. I still managed to post at time of 17:59, which breaks down to 5:48 minute mile pace. My average from a 6k in the winter was 6:07 minute mile pace, so there is an improvement there.

Find an entire photo set from the race posted on Racing Captured courtesy of Anthony Skorochod. Also Red Hook Crit created a photo blog full of various photographers contributions from the night.

Red Text?!March 13th, 2012

So, I’ve seen the Oakley Radar Polished White/Oakley Text, but the text has always been black.

Enter these rarer than rare gems:

Direct from a great friend at Oakley and customized over the phone, these are without a doubt one-of-a-kind.

A great addition to my Oakley collection and sure to prove essential during the upcoming racing season with W.S. United.

Red Hook Crit RunMarch 10th, 2012

I just signed up for the Red Hook Crit Run on March 24th.

It will be my first 5k since high school. Though, I did a 5 miler and 4 miler in the late fall/early winter and fared well.

Come cheer for me, I’ll be flying the Gage + DeSoto Track Club flag.
